Most of Greater Houston buys electricity on the open retail market. Homes on Entergy Texas lines in Conroe do not. Entergy's service territory includes Montgomery County and Conroe's ZIP codes, and its HVAC incentive runs through equipment distributors, not homeowners. Conroe is also colder than Houston and has grown by a third since 2020. Those three facts change how a Conroe ad should read.
What is different about HVAC marketing in Conroe?
The utility, the winter and the growth. Entergy Texas is a regulated utility, so its customers have no retail provider choice and no CenterPoint incentive. Conroe averages 27.0 freezing nights a year to Intercontinental's 10.1. And the city grew 33.0% since 2020. A Houston campaign copied here gets the offer wrong.
| Conroe, Census | Value |
|---|---|
| Population, 2020 to 2025 | 89,899 to 119,564 (+33.0%) |
| Single-family homes permitted, 2025 | 1,839 (plus 9,056 in unincorporated Montgomery County) |
| Owner-occupied homes (ACS 2020 to 2024) | 21,737 (54.5% of occupied homes) |
| Owner homes built 2010 or later | 43.5% |
| Owner homes built 1980 to 2009 | 8,174 (37.6%) |
| Owner homes built before 1980 | 18.9% |
| Median year built, all homes | 2006 |
| Median home value | $309,600 |
| Occupied homes heated by electricity / gas | 56.2% / 41.7% |
How does the Entergy Texas HVAC incentive work?
It pays distributors, not homeowners. Entergy Texas says it "does not pay direct incentives to homeowners" for its HVAC program. Participating distributors get an annual allocation, and the incentives "can be passed on to dealers and their customers." Whether a Conroe homeowner sees any of it depends on your supply house.
The 2026 program guide sets the rules:
- Equipment. Central AC and heat pumps from 15.2 SEER2, heat pumps also from 8.5 HSPF2, under 64,999 Btuh, AHRI-matched.
- Amounts. Set by tonnage and SEER2. A 3-ton AC at 15.2 to 15.9 SEER2 earns $225. A 3-ton heat pump at 18.0 to 20.9 SEER2 earns $555.
- Electric resistance bonus. A heat pump replacing hard-wired electric resistance heat earns three times the heat pump incentive.
- Sizing and permits. Systems must be sized to ACCA Manual J or ASHRAE standards and permitted locally.
- Deadlines. Paperwork is due by December 1, and distributors are expected to use 40% of their allocation by July 1.
So Conroe ads never say "Entergy rebate". If your distributor participates and passes the incentive through, the landing page can say you apply an Entergy Texas distributor incentive to qualifying systems, with the program page linked. If not, it stays out.
Why do heat pumps lead in Conroe?
Because 56.2% of Conroe homes heat with electricity, and Entergy pays the most for heat pumps that replace electric resistance heat. An older electric furnace swapped for a heat pump is the one Conroe job where the utility program visibly moves the price. The qualifier's "current system" question finds those homes first.
Gas homes still get their own track. 41.7% of occupied homes heat with utility gas, and for those owners the ad sells a matched AC and furnace changeout, where only the cooling side can qualify for Entergy's program.
Does every Conroe address use Entergy?
No, so we check each one. Entergy's guide lists Montgomery County and Conroe ZIP codes 77301 to 77306, but says it "may serve all or only part" of them. Next door, The Woodlands Township says Entergy serves portions of The Woodlands and CenterPoint the rest.
The guide's own test is the meter: it should read Entergy or Gulf States. We add a utility check to the lead record before the estimate, so your comfort advisor knows which program applies. For CenterPoint homes, the rules on our Houston page apply instead.
How would we run Meta and Google for a Conroe contractor?
Google-heavy from May to September, Meta-heavy the rest of the year, with heat pumps leading. Conroe averages 108.2 days a year at 90°F or more but only 7.7 at 100°F, so the story is a long, humid season rather than extreme peaks. All Conroe leads answer the same six qualifier questions first.
What changes in Conroe:
- A winter budget. 27.0 freezing nights a year justify Meta heating offers from November to February, which a Houston-core plan might skip.
- A growth-edge map. Conroe with Montgomery, Willis, Lake Conroe and Magnolia, and The Woodlands only if your trucks already run there.
- Renter screening. At 54.5% owner occupancy, the homeowner question filters hard.
When do Conroe homeowners buy?
| Month | Days at 90°F or more | Freezing nights | Ad split | Offer focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 0.0 | 9.8 | Meta $2,500 / Google $1,500 | Heat pump conversions from electric heat |
| February and March | 0.0 each | 4.6, 1.8 | Meta-heavy | Heat pump replacement, financing |
| April | 0.8 | 0.2 | Meta-heavy | Replace before summer |
| May | 8.8 | 0.0 | Google $2,500 / Meta $1,500 | Central AC and heat pump replacement |
| June to August | 22.1, 26.3, 27.8 | 0.0 | Google-heavy | Replacement, fast install dates |
| September | 17.9 | 0.0 | Google-heavy | Late-season install slots |
| October | 4.5 | 0.1 | Meta-heavy | Replace before winter |
| November and December | 0.0 each | 2.5, 8.1 | Meta-heavy | Heat pump and AC and furnace changeouts |
Figures are NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals for Conroe's Montgomery County airport. Distributor incentive paperwork closes December 1, so December offers do not rely on it.
Worked example: a Conroe March at minimum spend (planning assumptions, not results)
Shoulder split: Meta $2,500 + Google $1,500 = $4,000 ad spend
$4,000 ÷ $100 to $130 assumed blended cost per lead = about 35 leads
35 × 60% pass the qualifier = about 21. 21 × 60% book = about 12 to 13 booked estimates
12.5 × 30% close = about 3 to 4 heat pump or AC replacement jobs
About $320 ad cost per booked estimate. About $520 all-in with the $2,500 fee
Entergy Texas distributor incentive, if your distributor passes it on: from $225 on a 3-ton 15.2 SEER2 AC, more for heat pumps
Break-even jobs = ($2,500 + $4,000) ÷ your gross profit per replacement
These are planning assumptions, not Conroe data. A 45% renter share could pull the qualifier rate below 60%. Your first month of results replaces them.
Is Conroe its own territory?
No. Conroe is part of our Greater Houston territory, which is open, with one HVAC contractor per service line across the metro. A Conroe-based contractor who signs holds Greater Houston, and the ads only run where your trucks go.
See the Houston territory page, our pricing, or book a strategy call. We work Central Time hours from Sydney and have no office, staff or clients in Texas.
