ROUND ROCK, PART OF AUSTIN

HVAC Marketing in Round Rock: replacement estimates on Oncor lines, not Austin Energy

Round Rock is growing fast, but most owner homes are 1980s to 2000s builds nearing replacement. Its power comes over Oncor lines, so Austin's rebate does not apply. It sits inside our open Austin territory.

Round Rock is part of the Austin metro, but it runs on a different utility system. Its power arrives over Oncor lines, about half its homes heat with gas, and its population has grown 18.2% since 2020. A contractor who copies an Austin ad into Round Rock gets the rebate wrong and the equipment mix wrong. Here is how we would do it instead.

What is different about selling HVAC in Round Rock?

Three things: the utility, the fuel and the growth. Oncor delivers Round Rock's electricity, so Austin Energy's rebates do not apply. Half the homes heat with gas. And the city grew from 119,523 to 141,282 people between 2020 and 2025, while most owner homes were still built before 2010.

Round Rock, Census Value
Population, 2020 to 2025 119,523 to 141,282 (+18.2%)
Single-family homes permitted, 2025 529
Owner-occupied homes (ACS 2020 to 2024) 27,016 (55.5% of occupied homes)
Owner homes built 1980 to 2009 18,180 (67.3%)
Owner homes built 2010 or later 22.2%
Owner homes built before 1980 10.5%
Median year built, all homes 2002
Median home value $418,600
Occupied homes heated by gas / electricity 50.2% / 47.3%

Why don't Austin Energy rebates work in Round Rock?

Because Austin Energy's rebate requires the homeowner to buy electricity from Austin Energy, and Round Rock homes are on Oncor's delivery system. Oncor's 2025 annual report names Round Rock in its territory, and Round Rock residents choose a retail electric provider. An Austin Energy rebate in a Round Rock ad is simply wrong.

This is the most common mistake we would expect in Round Rock marketing: a metro-wide Austin campaign with the rebate in the headline, shown to homeowners who cannot claim it. We split the campaigns by utility area, and Round Rock ads carry no rebate.

Oncor does run a Home Energy Efficiency Program. The incentive goes to approved participating service providers, not to the homeowner as a check, and covers heating and cooling upgrades among other projects. We found no published dollar amount on Oncor's page. If you are on Oncor's provider list, the landing page mentions it, with no number attached.

How old are the systems in Round Rock homes?

Mostly mid-life to replacement age, with a newer layer on top. 67.3% of owner-occupied homes were built from 1980 to 2009, and 22.2% in 2010 or later. The median home dates from 2002. So a large share of Round Rock owners are coming up on a first or second changeout, and a real minority are not due yet.

That makes the system-age question in the qualifier carry most of the weight. When the answer is a system under ten years old, the lead is tagged as service, not replacement, and does not take a comfort advisor's slot. When the answer is an original system in a 1998 house, it goes straight to your calendar.

The owner share, 55.5%, is lower than you might expect in a family city. Roughly 45% of occupied homes are rented, so the homeowner question screens hard here too.

Gas furnace or heat pump in Round Rock?

Either, in almost equal numbers. Census data shows 50.2% of occupied homes heat with utility gas and 47.3% with electricity. Atmos Energy lists Round Rock among the cities in its Mid-Tex service area. So the ads need a matched AC plus furnace offer and a heat pump offer, not one message for everyone.

Gas homes see a changeout offer that covers the furnace and the AC together. Electric homes see heat pump replacement. The qualifier's "current system" answer tells your comfort advisor which equipment conversation to prepare for before they arrive.

How would we run Meta and Google for a Round Rock contractor?

Google-heavy from May through September, Meta-heavy from October to April. The nearest station, Austin Bergstrom, averages 123.5 days a year at 90°F or more and 24.2 at 100°F. Winter matters too: 33.0 freezing nights a year, so heating offers earn their place.

What changes in Round Rock:

  • Utility-aware campaigns. Round Rock sits in a separate campaign from any Austin Energy area, with no rebate claims.
  • A north-side map. Round Rock with Brushy Creek, Teravista and Forest Creek, plus Pflugerville, Hutto, Georgetown and Cedar Park if your trucks already cover them.
  • Age-split creative. One set speaks to 1980s to 2000s homes about full replacement. Another speaks to newer-home owners about maintenance agreements, so they know your name when their turn comes.
  • City-name search terms. "AC replacement Round Rock" and "furnace replacement Round Rock", excluding repair parts, DIY and job searches.

The channel detail is on our Google Ads for HVAC and Facebook ads for HVAC pages.

When do Round Rock homeowners replace systems?

Month Days at 90°F or more Freezing nights Ad split Offer focus
January 0.0 10.9 Meta $2,500 / Google $1,500 Furnace plus AC changeouts
February and March 0.3 each 6.5, 2.3 Meta-heavy Heat pump replacement, book before summer
April 2.2 0.2 Meta-heavy Replace before the first 100°F day
May 11.5 0.0 Google $2,500 / Meta $1,500 Central AC and heat pump replacement
June to August 24.4, 28.4, 29.4 0.0 Google-heavy Replacement, fast install dates
September 20.4 0.0 Google-heavy Late-season install slots
October 6.5 0.2 Meta-heavy Replace before next summer
November and December 0.1, 0.0 3.4, 9.6 Meta-heavy Heating replacement, maintenance agreements

Figures are NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals for Austin Bergstrom Airport, the nearest station in our data. They are not a Round Rock measurement.

Worked example: a Round Rock March at minimum spend (planning assumptions, not results)

Shoulder split: Meta $2,500 + Google $1,500 = $4,000 ad spend

$4,000 ÷ $100 to $130 assumed blended cost per lead = about 35 leads

35 × 60% pass the qualifier = about 21. 21 × 60% book = about 12 to 13 booked estimates

12.5 × 30% close = about 3 to 4 jobs sold

About $320 ad cost per booked estimate. About $520 all-in with the $2,500 fee

No utility rebate in the numbers: Round Rock homes on Oncor cannot claim Austin Energy's

Break-even jobs = ($2,500 + $4,000) ÷ your gross profit per replacement

These are planning assumptions, not Round Rock data. Newer homes and a 45% renter share could push the qualifier pass rate below 60%. Your first month of results replaces these numbers.

Does a Round Rock contractor get its own territory?

No, Round Rock is part of our Austin territory, which is open. We sign one HVAC contractor per service line for the whole metro. A Round Rock-based contractor who signs holds Austin, and the ads only run where your trucks go.

See the Austin territory page, our pricing, or book a strategy call. We are based in Sydney, work Central Time hours, and have no Texas office, staff or clients.

FAQ

Round Rock questions

Are you taking HVAC clients in Round Rock?

Yes. Round Rock is part of our Austin territory, which is open, with one HVAC contractor per service line across the metro. We have no Round Rock or Texas clients, results or reviews yet, and no office, staff or phone number in the US. We are based in Sydney, Australia, and work Central Time business hours.

Can Round Rock homeowners get the Austin Energy AC rebate?

Not if their power comes from Oncor. Austin Energy's AC rebate page says you must receive electricity from Austin Energy. Oncor's 2025 annual report names Round Rock in its delivery territory, and Round Rock residents choose a retail electric provider. So Round Rock ads never show the Austin Energy rebate.

Is there an Oncor rebate for Round Rock HVAC replacements?

Oncor runs a Home Energy Efficiency Program that pays incentives to approved participating service providers for heating and cooling upgrades, in homes on Oncor's delivery system. Oncor does not publish an amount on that page, and we could not verify one, so Round Rock ads carry no rebate figure.

Do Round Rock homes have gas furnaces or heat pumps?

About half and half. Census data for 2020 to 2024 shows 50.2% of occupied Round Rock homes heat with utility gas and 47.3% with electricity, and Atmos Energy lists Round Rock in its Mid-Tex gas service area. So we run an AC plus furnace offer and a heat pump offer side by side.

How cold does Round Rock get in winter?

The closest station in our data, Austin Bergstrom, averages 33.0 nights a year at or below freezing, including 10.9 in January and 9.6 in December, with a January normal low of 37.7°F. It sits southeast of Austin, so treat it as the nearest published normal, not a Round Rock reading.
